TCL, the company that has been behind recent launches including the BlackBerry KeyOne appears to be back with another new device for 2018. The device, previously codenamed Krypton, will be called the BlackBerry Motion. The device will have the same industrial look and feel that the KeyOne has, sans a physical keyboard. Most folks who are still attached to their BlackBerries are only attached for the physical keyboard. Most people who like BlackBerry at all happen to only like it for the keyboard. It has always been a questionable mood to see a BlackBerry device without a keyboard. Matter of fact, I happened to like the physical keyboard on the Blackberry KeyOne, but I digress.
The Motion will lack the high end flagship specs that phones like the Galaxy Note 8, and the upcoming V30 will have. The Motion will come with a Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and a massive 4000 mAh battery. I am curious as to why we can’t stick a battery like that in a flagship phone. The Motion will have a 1080p screen, and a pretty hefty chin to go along with the device as well.
The phone will likely have mid-range specs across the board, with a fair to moderate camera, and Android 8.0 as other selling points for the device. It will definitely be interesting to see how this device does in the market. I am more interested in seeing what TCL will have in store for future BlackBerry branded devices.
Interesting thought; why haven’t we seen a BlackBerry slider yet?
